The Other (DE)
The Other is considered to be Europe’s most famous Horrorpunk-Band,
especially after the praised third longplayer „The Place To Bleed“ and
gigs at some of the biggest Alternative-Festivals in Europe, like Mera
Luna, Summer Breeze, Force Attack and Wave Gotik Treffen. Shows with
Bela B. (of Germany’s Punk-Rock superstars Die Ärzte), the 69 Eyes, The
Cult and tours with Misfits, The Damned, Balzac and Wednesday 13 added
to the success of the Horror-fourpiece. The band played endlessly all
over Europe in the last two years and even set over to tour the USA and
play shows in England and Ireland.
That payed off. All scene-magazines covered The Other, even the daily-
and yellow-press wrote about the band and their videoclip with actress
Leonie Saint. The band was even extensively featured on MTV Masters and
for a second time on the French-German cultural TV-channel ARTE
The Other’s first comic-book – „Tales From The Other“ was also a big
success and the second part of the series is already planned.
2009 saw the band cutting down on their live-appearances to write songs
for the fourth album due out on May 21st 2010 on their new label Steamhammer/SPV.
Quite a few festivalgigs were played anyway, for example at Summer Breeze, Force Attack,
Gladerock, Dockyard, Endless Summer and Amphi Festival, where the band performed
with the some of the biggest names in Metal, Punk and Goth (for example
Volbeat, Amon Amarth, Amorphis, KMFDM, Fields of the Nephilim, Life of
Agony, Kreator, Entomed, Front 242, Laibach, UK Subs, Anti Nowhere
League, etc.)
2009’s highlight was the band’s exclusive appearance at Europe’s biggest
Horror-Meeting, the „Weekend Of Horrors“, where The Other played as the
only band and the main-event of the night among movies stars like
„Freddy Krueger“ Robert Englund, Lance Henriksen („Terminator“,
„Aliens“) and Jake Busey („Starship Troopers“, „The Frighteners“).
For 2010 the band is already confirmed to play the legendary Wacken Open
Air among Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Slayer and more, the Mera Luna
with Sisters of Mercy & Placebo, the Dark Dance Meeting, and the
Ruhrpott-Rodeo with Slime and Wizo which again shows The Other’s
crossover-potential between Punk, Goth and Metal.
